Thomas J. Simeone
As a result of his success as a trial attorney, Mr. Simeone is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization whose membership is limited to attorneys who have recovered $1,000,000.00 or more in a single case. Mr. Simeone has served as lead trial counsel in several cases resulting in large jury verdicts or settlements, in both state and federal court, including class actions, serious automobile accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice, product liability employment law and civil rights.
One of Mr. Simeone's recent cases is the subject of an article in The Harvard Law Review, which describes the settlement he negotiated as a "historic settlement." (Vol. 118, No. 5). The Court in the case described the settlement as "groundbreaking."
Mr. Simeone recently appeared in the Washington Post in regard to the settlement of a federal class action suit brought on behalf of disabled persons against two national movie chains. He also recently appeared on WJLA Channel 7 and on Univision in regard to a wrongful death case he filed on behalf of two unarmed men who were shot by an off duty Washington, D.C. police officer. He has also appeared in The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, ESPN.com, and TheSportingNews.com. In 1999, Mr. Simeone appeared on WUSA Channel 9 as its "Newsmaker of the Day" for a class action he filed against PEPCO resulting from massive power outages. He has been interviewed by radio stations WMAL in Washington and WHPC-FM in New York and on cable television station CTV-15 in Washington.
He is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Trial Lawyers Associations, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Since 1995, Mr. Simeone has been an Adjunct Law Professor at The George Washington University School of Law, where he is an Adjunct Professor in the Legal Research and Writing Program. There, he teaches legal writing and advocacy to first year law students.
Mr. Simeone is a 1991 graduate of Columbia University School of Law, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar in each of his three years. During law school, he published an article in, and served as an editor of, The Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems. Mr. Simeone earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in 1986. At Syracuse, Mr. Simeone was named to the Dean's List for 6 semesters, served on the School of Management's Dean's Advisory Board, and was a recipient of the New York State Society of C.P.A.'s Career Placement Award. After graduating from Syracuse , Mr. Simeone worked for Price Waterhouse, where his clients included USA Today, The National Gallery of Art, and The World Bank.
Before starting Simeone & Miller, Mr. Simeone was a partner at Cohen & Cohen, P.C., and an associate attorney with Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge, which was one of the largest law firms in Washington, D.C. at the time. At Cohen & Cohen, Mr. Simeone managed the firm's litigation practice and was lead attorney in a caseload of sophisticated personal injury matters, including serious automobile accidents, product liability, tobacco litigation, class actions, premises liability, medical malpractice and civil rights. At Shaw, Pittman, Mr. Simeone worked in the firm's litigation department on cases involving securities fraud, commercial litigation, criminal law, and energy law.
Craig D. Miller
As a founding partner of Simeone & Miller, Craig Miller manages Simeone & Miller's litigation division. Mr. Miller's practice focuses on personal injury work, including medical malpractice, class actions, nursing home cases, auto accidents, premises liability, and products liability. He is a member of theDistrict of Columbia and Maryland Trial Lawyers Associations and is admitted to practice law in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. In addition, he is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Virginia, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
At Simeone & Miller, Mr. Miller has served as lead trial counsel on a variety of sophisticated and controversial matters, including many cases rejected by other personal injury firms. He and his clients have appeared on, or been invited to appear on, The Dr. Phil Show, The John Walsh Show, The Sam Donaldson Show - Live in America, and The BQ View. Mr. Miller's cases have also been covered in The Washington Post. He has obtained substantial settlements and trial verdicts on behalf of many of the firm's clients.
After September 11th, Mr. Miller volunteered to represent victims of the terrorist attacks on a pro bono basis. He is proud to have obtained compensation on behalf of the family of a man who died at the Pentagon. As part of the Trial Lawyers Care Program, Mr. Miller assisted the family both in applying for compensation from the Victim's Compensation Fund and at the hearing where she obtained proper compensation for her tragic loss.
Prior to co-founding Simeone & Miller, Mr. Miller was the Senior Associate at Cohen & Cohen, P.C., where he was selected as Cohen & Cohen's Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2000. While at Cohen & Cohen, P.C., Mr. Miller managed the firm's the Pre-Litigation Department. He also directed the firm's associate training program and was responsible for instructing junior attorneys in trial skills, discovery tactics, and negotiation strategies.
Mr. Miller is a 1997 graduate of The George Washington University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Miller wrote for The Advocate, the student newspaper. He was also a member of the Trial Court Board and the Student Bar Association. In 1994, Mr. Miller received a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in Mathematics and Political Science from Indiana University at Bloomington.
Wesley Gelb
Wesley Gelb is the senior associate at Simeone & Miller. His practice focuses primarily on personal injury law, including automobile accidents, premises liability, wrongful death and medical malpractice. He has experience in jury and bench trials, depositions, arbitrations and mediations. Mr. Gelb has successfully represented clients in several cases resulting in large verdicts and settlements.
Prior to joining Simeone & Miller, Mr. Gelb was an attorney with the law firm of Steven H. Oram, Chartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Mr. Gelb also worked in the office of United States Senator John Edwards (D-NC); the Forsyth County, NC District Attorney's Office; and the legal department of Quintiles Transnational Corp.
Mr. Gelb is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Prince George's County Bar Association.
Mr. Gelb is a graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law where his studies centered on litigation and trial advocacy. He served as President of the International Law Society and Executive Editor of the Intellectual Property Law Journal. Mr. Gelb is a cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University.
Steven Shaw
Steven Shaw handles a variety of personal injury cases, including automobile accidents, premises liability, product liability, and medical malpractice. Before joining Simeone & Miller, Mr. Shaw was an attorney with Silverberg, Goldman & Bikoff in Washington, D.C., where he worked on constitutional, commercial, and intellectual property litigation. Mr. Shaw has also worked for the Presidential Advisory Commission on Holocaust Assets in the United States and as a legal intern in the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, where he assisted in the enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Mr. Shaw is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Fairfax County Bar Association.
Mr. Shaw graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2003 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Virginia in 2000.
Neil Tyra
Neil Tyra's practice focuses primarily on personal injury law, including automobile accidents, premises liability, and medical malpractice. Prior to joining Simeone & Miller, Mr. Tyra worked at the State's Attorney's Office of Montgomery County, MD where he focused on District Court criminal matters as well as juvenile law issues in Circuit Court. Before entering law school, Mr. Tyra had a long and successful career in information systems and technology management for some of Washington D.C.'s largest technology firms, including Computer Sciences Corporation. Mr. Tyra is a member of the Board of Directors for United for DC - the charitable foundation of Major League Soccer's DC United team.
Mr. Tyra is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland and is presently seeking admission to the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association.
Mr. Tyra is a graduate of the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, where his studies centered on litigation, trial advocacy, criminal law, juvenile law, and family law. Mr. Tyra is a graduate of University of Maryland.
Bonnie A. Miluso
Bonnie Miluso's work at Simeone & Miller covers a wide range of areas, including personal injury law, premises liability and medical malpractice. Ms. Miluso has broad experience in both the pre-litigation phase as well as litigation.
Ms. Miluso graduated with honors from The George Washington University Law School, where her studies focused on international human rights law and international civil litigation. During law school, Ms. Miluso served as Managing Editor of the George Washington International Law Review and was an inaugural member of the George Washington International Human Rights Clinic where she worked on Sosa v. Alvarez-Machain, a human rights case before the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Miluso's published Note on same-gender partner immigration rights and international law was can be found in Volume 36, Issue 1 of the George Washington International Law Review.
Ms. Miluso is admitted to practice law in California and her admission to practice in the District of Columbia is currently pending.
William Eskridge Richmond
Will Richmond is Manager of the Pre-Litigation Department for Simeone & Miller. Mr. Richmond brings more than eight years of extensive experience and knowledge managing insurance claims adjudication with a major insurance company to our clients. He has technical and experiential knowledge of property damage, bodily injury, accident liability, uninsured motorist and medical claims investigation, negotiation and settlement. Mr. Richmond also worked as an advocate for physically impaired children and adults earlier in his professional career.
Mr. Richmond is a 1988 graduate of West Virginia University where he received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Political Science with a minor in English. He earned an Associate in Claims designation from The Insurance Institute of America in 1999 and is a state licensed Resident Adjuster. He has also completed advanced claims adjudication certification requirements as a senior claims associate with State Farm Mutual Insurance Company.
Kimberleigh Stuart
Kimberleigh Stuart is a member of the firm's pre-litigation team. Ms. Stuart graduated from the University of Virginia in 2003 with a dual degree in History and African and African-American Studies. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Stuart was a member of the University's Pre-Law Society. Ms. Stuart will attend the American University Washington College of Law this fall.
